A representative from the Army Corps of Engineers was inspecting Canal Corkran  recently and came upon some violations.  We offer this from the Corps of Engineers for your information.

Clearing on the lots along the Canal is not allowed without a permit.  There must be a ground maintenance agreement between the Corps of Engineers and the property owners.  The Corps has a real estate office in Baltimore, Maryland, and must be contacted to put an agreement in place before unauthorized clearing takes place, even if there is a permit in place for a dock and pier.

An example of this would be a canal front lot owner who is having a house built, has approval for a dock and a pier, and starts to clear the lot.  A ground maintenance agreement needs to be obtained.

Homeowners with any questions can call the Corps of Engineers at (410) 962-4649.

For any properties for sale, perspective buyers, landowners, and REALTORS should know the process and regulations involving clearing of government land.
